An
easy to make apple needing no drawing skills at
all!
You will need :-
PSP9
Click here for
a Free Trial download of the latest PSP
programme. from Corel

Go to 'File' 'New' and open a
'New Raster Image' Size 400 x 400 pixels,
'Transparent'.
In the 'Materials' palette, set the' Foreground and
Stroke Properties' box to 'Transparent'....

...and in the 'Background and Fill Properties'
box
select the 'Gradient' icon
from the drop down menu. ......

...and click on the gradient
which appears in the box......

...to open the 'Materials
Properties' box. Click on the gradient which
appears in the 'Current Gradient' box to open
the menu. From the menu click on 'Duotone Red'
to select it, and set your settings to these.

Style 'Radial',angle 0, Repeats 1, Invert ticked
Centre Point Horizontal 51 and Vertical 6...... and
'Ok'
Click on the 'Ellipse Tool

and set the 'Mode' to 'Draw Circle'
[Ignore the width setting as
we set the stroke properties [outline] to
transparent in the 'Materials' box so it isn't
being used here]

Draw your mouse over your image to draw a
circle.

Use the 'Move Tool'
to drag your image to the centre if need be.
Click on the 'Mesh Warp' tool 
and set both the 'Mesh
Horizontal' and 'Mesh Vertical' to 9 and other
settings as those below.

A mesh will appear over your
image and you will notice little nodes in the
corners of each square. You can click/hold and
drag these anyway you like.
Drag the nodes nearest the point at the top of the circle downwards slightly to give the impression of the indent at the top of the apple.
Push the sides in near the bottom and the bottom up a little so it looses its uniform circle
shape and begins to look more like an apple.

Click on the 'Move Tool'
to remove the 'Mesh Warp'
Go to 'Layers' and 'New Raster Layer'.
If you get any 'Auto Action' prompts you can
'OK' them.
In the 'Materials' palette, click on the red gradient showing in the
'Background and Fill Properties' box to open the
'Materials properties' box...click on the
gradient showing in the box to open the menu
again.
Select 'Duotone Green' and set the settings to
these

Style 'Linear', Angle 270, Repeats 1, and this
time 'un tick' the 'Invert' box.
Using the 'Ellipse Tool'
again, set the 'Mode' to 'Draw Ellipse'.....

...and draw the tool into a
shape for the leaf, it doesnt matter where you
draw it as we will be moving it later.

Select the 'Mesh Warp' tool again and drag the nodes in/out to fashion a leaf
shape.

Click on the 'Deform Tool'

We are using this to
turn the image. Hold your mouse over the
farthest away node until your cursor changes to
2 chasing arrows ,
then you can click/hold and drag the node to
turn the image.

Run your mouse over the image
until your cursor changes to
then you can drag your image into position.
To remove the deformation
tool, click on the 'Move Tool' 
Go to 'Layers' and open a ' New Raster Layer'.
In the 'Materials' palette, 'Foreground and
Stroke Properties' box, click on the
'Transparent' icon to remove the tansparency....

...and click on the colour
which appears in the box to open the 'Material
Properties'. Select a brown colour for the
applestalk.
Using the 'Paintbrush Tool
set to Shape 'Round', Size 10, Hardness 80, draw a stalk.

Use the 'Move Tool'
and drag the stalk into position and also to
drag the leaf.
In the 'Layer' palette,click and hold your mouse
on 'Raster3' [which has the stalk on] and drag it to below
'Raster2' [Leaf] to place the stalk behind the
leaf....click on 'Raster2' to highlight...

....... then go to 'Layers'
and open a 'New Raster Layer'
In the 'Materials' palette, click on the colour
showing in the 'Foreground and Stroke
Properties' box to open the 'Material
Properties' box again, and select a light
orange/peach colour which we will use as a
highlight on the apple.
Click on the 'Paintbrush Tool' 
and set the settings to
these..

Shape 'Round', Size 28, Hardness 1,
Draw two strokes next to each other for the highlight.

Go to 'Layers' 'Merge' 'Merge Visible'
which puts all the layers onto the one layer.
To Save the Image
as a Tube.
Using the 'Crop Tool'
draw close round your image......

and click on the tick
to complete the crop.
Go to 'File' 'Export' 'Picture Tube'. Type a
name for your tube in the box and 'Ok'.
Now, when you click on the 'Picture Tube Tool'
your apple will appear in the menu ready for you
to use and you can vary the size of your apple
by altering the 'Scale'
