Installing Clothing
Content and Organising Runtime
The item of clothing we
are going to install for Aiko for the purpose of this tutorial is the free A3
MiniDress which can be found here
at Renderosity.com. You have to be registered and logged in.
The tutorial applies to
any other content you may wish to install except for installing products which
come in the form of installers and .exe [program] files...these are expected to
install correctly into your final designated folder.
Under the image in
Renderosity you will see 'Details' and 'Download'. Always read through the
'Details' first as this tells you about the item and its requirements. Now click
on 'Download'. Click'Save' in the 'File Download' window and save it in your
'Zips' folder.
When
the download is complete, click 'Open Folder' and you will see your zip.
Now, right click it and
select 'Explore' from the menu...........

and this will show you whats
inside the zip file.......

You will notice there is a 'Runtime' folder. This 'Runtime'
contains the 'Libraries' 'Geometries' 'Textures' and 'Templates' for the item of
clothing and you don't need to open it. This has to go into the !Aiko folder
eventually but before you do this you want to see if it works. Remember the 'Test' folder you made? This is where
you are first going to put it, so, right click the 'Runtime' folder and
'Copy'..........

then
hit the 'Back' button top left of your window a couple of times till you get
back to
your 'MyDazFolder' where your 'Test' folder is kept, open your 'Test' folder and
right click and 'Paste'. The 'Runtime' will now be in your 'Test' folder.

You now need to show Daz where
your 'Test' folder is, just like you did for !Aiko, so go to 'Edit' 'Preferences', the
'Directories' tab, click the down arrow at the end of 'DazStudio Content
Directories' and click on 'Poser Content Directories' and click 'Add'....find
your 'Test' folder....

'Ok' it.....then 'Apply'
and 'Accept'..........and it appears in your 'Contents' list. You only have to
add this 'Test' folder the one time.
Now click on its + to open
and yes, the dress is there in 'Figures'...
...........and the textures [known as mats
(materials)] show up under 'Poses'

All you have to do now is
move the 'Runtime' from the 'Test' folder and put it in the '!Aiko' folder.
So...in your 'MyDazFolder'
open the 'Test' folder and right click the 'Runtime' and 'Copy'...hit the 'Back'
button back to your 'MyDazFolder' and double click to open '!Aiko'.
This is what you already
have in your !Aiko folder.....

it already has a 'Runtime'
folder as you can see..
Now.....right click on a
blank part in your !Aiko folder and 'Paste'
You will get this
message....

All you do here is click 'Yes to All' ...you
will see a quick scurry of something happening and you will end up like this...

It will seem that nothings
changed. You will still have
showing 1 x 'ReadMe's' and 1 x 'Runtime' folder which is correct. The contents
of the 'Runtime' for the dress have gone in with the contents
of the 'Runtime' for your !Aiko and dispersed themselves into their correct folders
inside. Follow this exact same procedure for installing
other items of clothing/hair/poses etc.
This is what it looks like
inside your 'Runtime' folder and there's no need to touch anything, you don't
really need to open the 'Runtime' folder.

All we need to do now
is remove the 'Runtime' file still in your 'Test' folder , so hit the 'Back'
button back to your 'MyDazFolder' and double click on 'Test' to open it then
right click on 'Runtime' and 'Delete' [send to bin]
Have a look at your
'Contents' now in Daz.....the 'Test' folder is empty, there's no + sign ...

....and have a look in !Aiko..............
in 'Figures' you now have
the dress...

and in 'Poses' you now
have the textures....

You can now carry on
installing more content for Aiko. Also install your other characters to their respective folders and download clothing
for them installing it in exactly the same way as you've just done for !Aiko.
