PSP 9
Animation Shop
A 3
framed Glitter file
There
are glitter files you can download from the net, or why not have a go at
making your own? We have a simple tutorial here for Making
your own Glitter
A font of your choice,
use
a chunky one [Ive used 'Candice' for this tutorial]
There are many free fonts on the net,
download and save to a folder on your pc, or you can use one which you
will already find available in your PSP prog when you come to use the 'Text'
tool.
*
Firstly, find your font file, open it and
leave it onscreen or reduce it to your taskbar at the bottom. While you keep
the file open it will appear in your list of fonts in PSP when you
use the 'Text' tool.
Open your PSP 9
programme.
Go to 'File' 'New' and open a new raster
image, transparent, size 500 x 300 pixels.

Go to 'File'
'Jasc Software products' 'Launch
Animation Shop'
In Animation Shop go to 'File' Browse' and
locate your glitter. Double click on it to open it. This particular
glitter has 3 frames.

Go to 'Edit' 'Select all' so all your frames
are surrounded in blue

then 'Edit' 'Copy'...
Go over to PSP and click on 'Edit' 'Paste'
'Paste Animation as Multiple Images'
and your glitter frames will appear, each
frame in its own little window

Click on your main blank image to activate it
[the bar at the top turns blue and 'Raster 1' will be highlighted blue in your
'Layer' palette.]
Click on the 'Text' tool
icon
On the 'Tools Options' palette click the
little down arrow next to font and select your chosen font from the drop down
menu

Set the size, Ive used
72, and set the
'Stroke Width' to 1.0. and the 'Create as:' Floating
Set the 'Line Style' to
+Solid and 'Anti-alias' to smooth
In the 'Materials'
palette click on the solid black dot underneath the 'Foreground and Stroke'
properties box to set it to colour. Click on the colour in the box to open the
'Materials Properties' box. Select a colour. Do the same with the 'Background
and Fill Properties' box, set that to the same colour.

Click on your blank image and the 'Text
Entry' box will open. You will notice a 'Vector 1' layer open in your 'Layer
Palette'. This is because all text is made on a 'Vector' layer and the program
auto does this for you.
Type in your text and click 'Apply'
Your text will appear on your image
surrounded by 'Marching Ants' and you'll notice the 'Vector' has changed to a
'Floating Selection

Go to
'Selections' 'Select None' to deselect. The 'Marching Ants' will disappear and
your layer will be back to a raster layer.
Use the'
Move Tool'
to to
drag your text into position. Once in position dont move it from now on.
As the glitter used for this
tutorial is a 3 frame glitter we have to duplicate our text layer 'Raster Layer' so
that there will be 3 layers - one to correspond with each of the glitter fames [If
you are using a glitter with more than 3 frames, you will have to duplicate
accordingly]
So...in the 'Layer' palette, right click on
'Raster1' and select 'Duplicate' from the menu.

Right click on that layer and select
'Duplicate' again so you now have 3 layers

In the 'Materials'
palette 'Foreground and Stroke Properties', click on the
solid black dot and select the 'Pattern' icon from its drop down menu

Click on the pattern that appears in the box
to open the 'Material Properties' box, pattern section.
Click on the pattern showing there to open
the menu. There you will see your 3 glitter frames, click on the first of the
3 to select it....and 'OK' it [ Ignore the image numbers underneath]

The
first frame of your glitter will now be showing in your
'Materials' palette

In your 'Layer' palette,
'X'
out the top 2 'Raster' layers by clicking on the eye at the end of each
row.
Click on 'Raster 1' to highlight it

Select the 'Magic Wand' tool
and make sure you have the 'Mode' set
to 'Add (Shift)'. This keeps your selections 'selected' as you click along the
letters.
Click inside each of your letters so there
are 'Marching Ants' inside each one

Click on the
'Floodfill' tool
and left click inside each letter to floodfill with the first of the glitters.

With the 'Marching Ants' still marching,
'X' out 'Raster 1' layer and un 'X' the next
layer and click on it to highlight

In the 'Materials' palette, click on the
glitter showing in the box to open the 'Material Properties' patterns.
Click on the glitter showing in that
box to open the menu. Select the 2nd frame of your glitter from the menu,
count the second one in of the 3 frames, ignore the 'Image' numbers underneath

and 'OK' it
It will appear in your 'Materials' palette.
Using the
'Floodfill' tool
again, click inside each letter to floodfill with the 2nd glitter.
'X' out that layer in your 'Layer' palette,
un 'X' the last layer and click on it to highlight.

Click on the glitter showing in your
'Materials' palette again to open the 'Material Properties', and this time
select the 3rd of the glitters from the menu and 'OK' it

Using the
'Floodfill' tool , click inside each letter to floodfill with the 3rd of your glitters.
'Selections' 'Select None' to deselect.
Un 'X' all 3 layers
