Part2

Adding a Background.

We are going to add a new layer for the background, so go to 'Layers' 'New Raster Layer'

You will now see 'Raster 3' in your 'Layer' palette.

You can use the scrollbar to the right of the 'Layer' palette to scroll up and down or you can lengthen the palette by holding your mouse over the right bottom corner of it till you see a double ended arrow, then you can drag the palette longer/shorter, wider/narrower

We want the background to go behind our  flower images. We have to put the background layer behind the other layers so click hold and drag 'Raster3' to the bottom of the 'Layer'palette.

In the 'Materials' palette..... 'Foreground and Stroke' properties box......

...with 'Colour' selected....[solid black dot].......

.......click on the colour which appears in the box to open the 'Materials Properties' 'Style' colour menu. Select a colour for your background and 'OK' it

Your chosen colour will now appear in the 'Foreground and Stroke Properties' box

With your new layer 'Raster 3' highlighted blue in your 'Layer' palette, and using the 'Floodfill Tool'   click on your image to floodfill with your colour.

If you'd prefer a patterned background, in the 'Materials' palette'  'Foreground and Stroke Properties' box, click on the solid black dot ...this reveals a further 2 icons. The solid black dot is 'Colour', the centre dot is 'Gradient' and the bottom one is 'Pattern'

Click on the 'Pattern' icon to select it, then click on the pattern which appears in the box to open the 'Materials Properties' 'Style' box.

Click on the pattern showing in the box to open the patterns menu.

Scroll down the menu till you see a pattern you wish to use, click on it to select and 'OK' it.

It will now appear in your 'Materials' palette.

Making sure your background layer is activated [highlighted blue] in your 'Layer palette, use the 'Floodfill Tool'   and click on your image to floodfill with the pattern.

Select the 'Move Tool'   to remove the 'Floodfill Tool' and reposition your flowers if necessary
